Street cleaning and litter collection

How we keep the county tidy and how you can get involved

We understand that rubbish and litter can be a blight on our local communities.

Here's what we do to clean streets and collect litter:

  • visit town centres daily
  • visit most roads once a month
  • remove accumulations of rubbish from Council land
  • aim to empty litter bins before they are full
  • help with your locally organised clean-ups
  • respond quickly to requests for service

Keep Rutland tidy

You can help us to keep Rutland clean and tidy by taking these small steps at home and when out and about:

How often we clean streets

The road sweeper will follow a 15-week cycle. Expand the accordion below to view the order:

Street cleaning - Text - The A1

The A1

A section of the busy A1 carriageway runs through Rutland - here's what we do to keep this section of highway as tidy as possible:

  • litter pick catering lay-bys on a weekly basis - all other lay-bys are picked on a regular basis
  • the A1 is inspected on a regular basis - we deal with problems like abandoned vehicles and fly-tipping as a matter of priority
