Household waste and recycling centres

Household waste and recycling centres (HWRC) are a good place to dispose of your extra waste, recycling, garden waste, broken electrical goods, white goods and unwanted furniture

Registering to use the centres

We have two household waste and recycling centres in Rutland.

You need to be a Rutland resident and register your vehicle on our automatic number plate recognition system (if you've not already registered this) to use the centres.

You can register your vehicle, change or check which vehicle(s) you currently have registered through MyAccount.

Disposing of upholstered seating

If you want to dispose of upholstered seating, please bring these items on their own - not as part of a mixed load.

Councils have to incinerate any upholstered seating that's thrown away, along with any other items that are part of the same load.

This is because persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in seating textiles and foams can harm the environment.
