There are different types of fraud that either the council or the police can look further into.

Types of Fraud we Investigate

Below are some of the types of fraud we have investigated and that have resulted in successful prosecutions.

  • Working and not declaring that work.
  • Non-disclosure of property or capital.
  • Non-disclosure of income.
  • Non-disclosure of a partner (commonly referred to as living together as husband and wife).
  • Non-declaration of other adults living in the household.
  • False tenancies - creating a false rent liability, sometimes with a fictitious landlord.
  • Failing to declare a change of address.
  • Landlord fraud, such as continuing to accept payments on behalf of a tenant who has vacated.
