All organisations providing support or services as part of the Local Offer must involve children, young people and their families in developing their support on an ongoing basis.
Here are a few examples of where families have helped develop or change the support available to them via the Local Offer in 2022. Some of these examples have been developed by a Collaboration group made up of parent/carers and RCC officers, who have been working on the following 3 priorities since summer 2022:
- Communication between RCC and families
- Creating an accessible Local offer
- Improved understanding of the Education Inclusion Partnership (now Schools Support Partnership)
In November 2020 we asked families about the draft Joint LLR SEND Commissioning Strategy, 2021-24. Following feedback from families, The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Joint Commissioning Strategy 2021-2024 has now been published. This strategy forms the first Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Commissioning Strategy for Children and Young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
Rutland County Council are also working together with parent/carers through the Collaboration group who work together on the priorities of families in Rutland.
