Voting in person

Remember to bring photo ID if you’re voting in person. You can find details of the new voter ID requirements on the Electoral Commission website.

You don’t need to have your Poll Card with you when you turn up to vote and can bring your own writing implement to mark your ballot paper, if you wish.

Returning postal votes

If you’re voting by post in the local elections and haven’t already returned your postal vote in the mail, you can deliver it to us by hand.

You can return postal votes at our Catmose offices in Oakham before 5.00pm on Thursday 4 May or at your local polling station before polls close at 10.00pm.

Voting by emergency proxy

If you have an emergency that means you can't vote in person, you can apply for an emergency proxy up until 5.00pm on Thursday 4 May.

The emergency must be something that you weren't aware of before the normal proxy vote deadline, which was 5.00pm on 25 April 2023.
