This section of the Local Offer is for professionals and practitioners working with children, young people and families in Rutland and brings together in one place information, resources and templates to help support families of children and young people with SEND. It also details what services are available in the local area and how and when they can be accessed.
It is important to identify children who have SEND as early as possible and you will find information on the following pages which will help support children and young people including Early Education and Childcare, Early Help and Social Care, and guidance on the role of nurseries, schools and colleges in helping children and young people with SEND to thrive. Education is key and there is an expectation that all children, including those with SEND, receive a universal offer of Quality First Teaching in schools and colleges which meets their needs. As part of Rutland’s Local Offer this is the first step to respond to the needs of pupils in class and when this approach is used effectively, it can meet the needs of all pupils.
All settings, schools and colleges should use the graduated response to help them identify and support children and young people with special educational needs.
You can also read Rutland's SEND and Inclusion Strategy which explains Rutland's vision for all children and young people with SEND.
