Staying active at home
Join the Movement is a national campaign encouraging people with tips, advice and guidance on how to keep or get active in and around your home.
Our Parks offer a range of high quality free online classes suitable for everyone in the comfort and safety of your home. You can also book a 1:1 Personal Coaching Session and join online Yoga classes for improving flexibility, strength, all round fitness, well-being and stress reduction.
Being active isn't my thing
The NHS offers exercise-themed advice and guides for adults of various abilities. Their Change4Life programme also gives families lots of easy ways to eat well and move more.
Active Rutland offers an Exercise Referral Scheme for adults with health conditions who may benefit from increasing their physical activitiy. As part of their Workplace Health programme, they can also work with employers to inspire healthier workforces.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to get more active. The NHS's Walking for health page offers walking-related advice and guidance. There are lots of scenic walking routes in Rutland, including The Rutland Round - a circular walk of about 65 miles round the county. You could even join a walking group. Rutland County Council holds information on the local Public Rights of Way.
For those wanting to take up running, the NHS provides running tips for beginners and a nine-week running plan, Couch to 5k.
The Rutland Walking and Cycling Festival encourages people to take to their feet and bike to feel the benefits of walking and cycling. The festival is a fun packed celebration of Rutland and its glorious countryside and is suitable for all ages and abilities, perfect for a family day out. Active Together is here to support you to get active, in your own way. Getting out in the fresh air for a walk, run, or cycle is a fantastic way to not only improve our physical health but our mental wellbeing. From miles of footpaths and cycle tracks, to local parks and woodlands right here on your doorstep, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland has so much to offer.

The Rutland Running and Triathlon Club supports all 3 triathlon disciplines and has multiple club sessions every week.
Rutland Water Parkrun is an extremely friendly and inclusive community event for walkers, joggers and runners. A Junior Parkrun also takes place every Sunday, for children aged 4 - 14.
Rutland Velo Club offers the opportunity for cyclists of any age and fitness or experience level to participate in novice events and competitive races.

The first step is to consult with your GP or another health professional about your options.
If you are eligible, they may refer you to Active Rutland's Exercise Referral Scheme, designed for adults who have health conditions and could benefit from increased physical activity.
You may also benefit from attending Steady Step classes across the county.
