Rules when using post-16 transport

You will need to make your own way to the bus pick up point, if this in within three miles of your home address.

You may need to walk from a bus stop to your college, and from college to a bus stop.

If you're issued with a local bus service pass, you can use your pass all day, Monday to Friday during term time.

Misbehaviour on buses is a serious issue, and could lead to you being excluded from transport. When using public transport, you should:

  • let people get off the bus before you board
  • show consideration and respect for other passengers, the vehicle and your driver
  • have your pass ready to show the driver - if you forget your pass, you'll be expected to pay the standard fare
  • be on time - transport will depart at the scheduled time
  • sit where a seat's available, but offer to give up your seat for elderly people, the less mobile, pregnant women and passengers with small children
  • not put your feet on seats
  • hold bags or items on your lap - or stow them under the seat at the front / in storage area
  • not leave litter
  • make sure your smartphone volume does not disturb other passengers

If you leave something on the bus, contact the service operator.

Your driver can refuse travel and complain to our transport team about bad behaviour.
