Blue Badges

Appeal your Blue Badge decision

If we refuse your application, you can ask us to review our decision.

To request a review of the decision:

  • put the reasons why you disagree with out decision in writing to us
  • send medical evidence about your condition(s) and how they affect you. The evidence must come from a medical professional. This will be at your own cost, and may not be enough evidence for us to issue a badge

Send your request to: Blue Badge Appeals, Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland LE15 6HP

When we receive your request, we'll let you know our final decision within one month. The decision may take longer if we need more evidence from you.

You cannot apply for a Blue Badge again within three months, unless:

  • there's a change in your medical condition which affects your mobility
  • you become eligible another way - for example you now get a qualifying benefit
  • you get a new medication prescription for your mobility which leads to a review of our decision

Reasons we can refuse Blue Badge applications

Under Department for Transport regulations, we can refuse a Blue Badge if:

  • you hold or have held a Blue Badge and misuse led to at least one relevant conviction
  • you fail to provide adequate eligibility evidence
  • you fail to pay the fee
  • we believe you are not the applicant
  • we believe you would let someone else use your Blue Badge
