Street furniture is anything installed on a road or pavement that helps keep drivers, cyclists and pedestrians safe.

We're responsible for:

  • pedestrian guard rails
  • cycle stands
  • safety barriers
  • traffic lights
  • signs
  • street lights
  • bus shelters
  • salt and grit bins

We provide:

  • street name plates
  • litter and dog waste bins
  • benches
  • information boards
  • trees
  • flower beds

Parish councils are responsible for:

  • seats and benches
  • planters and baskets
  • noticeboards
  • monuments
  • village signs
  • trees

Utility companies are responsible for things like:

  • telephone poles
  • mobile phone masts
  • manholes
  • fire hydrants

Unauthorised street furniture

Any unauthorised street furniture will be removed. The costs will be recovered from the offender. Depending on the type of offence, we also have the power to issue fines and penalties.
