Road markings, street lights and signs

Tourism signs

Tourist signs help to safely guide road users to a specific attraction or facility along the most appropriate route.

Highways England are responsible for tourist signs on motorways and trunk roads.

We are responsible for tourist signs on all A, B and C class roads and most unclassified roads.

To apply for a new tourist sign, your tourist destination must meet the criteria defined in our Signs Guidance and Street Furniture Policy.

You will need to pay:

  • a non-refundable application fee for a site assessment
  • for the signs, if your application is approved - includes the design costs, installation and a sum for future maintenance and repairs

Email highways@rutland.gov.uk for more information about fees.
