Road markings, street lights and signs

Street lighting

New street lighting requests need to go to your town or parish council first, to see if they support the request, as town and parish councils have an important role in protecting the visual character of their towns and villages.

To request a new street light, complete the form and email to highways@rutland.gov.uk or post to: Highways, Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6HP.

LED street lighting is designed to direct light downwards on to the road, reducing light pollution into properties. It also produces less carbon than conventional street lighting.

Street lighting for new developments

Developers can enter into a Section 38 Agreement to offer roads in the development for adoption - during this process we can work with you on appropriate street lighting. Email highways@rutland.gov.uk for more information.

How to report an issue

You can report issues with a street light, pedestrian crossing or illuminated bollard through FixMyStreet or MyAccount.

Please remember to tell us where the issue is - including the street name, nearby house number or lamp column numbers (if visible).
