Street name and numbering

Find out how to register a new address or edit an existing property name or address

We are responsible for naming new streets and for naming and numbering buildings in Rutland.

A property address is important as many organisations, post and emergency services need an efficient way to locate and reference properties.

If your property isn't registered through the street name and numbering process, it will not appear on the main address database used by the Council, Royal Mail, emergency services and credit agencies. This means you'll have difficulty getting mail, goods and services - for example when you apply for a credit card or shop online.

Register a new street name

If you're a developer and need a new street name and properties numbered, email our street name and numbering team at snn@rutland.gov.uk with the:

  • planning application reference number
  • site plan, clearly showing the layout and plot numbers
  • suggested street name
