What is classed as a high hedge and how to complain
High hedges can be a nuisance, especially when you can't agree a suitable height with your neighbours.
If you can answer yes to these three questions, then the hedge would be classed as a high hedge:
- does the hedge consist of two or more evergreen or semi-evergreen trees or shrubs in a line?
- is the hedge more than two metres in height?
- is the hedge growing on land owned by someone else?
How to complain about a high hedge
The first step is to try and negotiate with your neighbours. Keep a copy of any letters you send, to show that you've tried.
If you can't come to an agreement and you can show that you've tried to resolve the issue within the last four months, you can complain to us by completing a high hedge complaint form.
