Rutland's new Local Plan must allocate sites to meet the housing, employment and other development needs of Rutland.
We carried out the 'Call for Sites' to better understand the availability of allocation sites.
This was the first stage of the Local Plan process.
It gave site promoters, town and parish councils, residents and other interested parties the chance to submit sites for us to consider for development over the next 20 years.
It's important to note at this stage that the publication of any site submitted through the Call for Sites does not mean that it will be included in the Local Plan or be given permission for development.
Sites will be tested through technical work to assess their:
- sustainability
- suitability
- deliverability
The sites considered most appropriate will be put to public consultation in the Preferred Options stage of preparing the Local Plan, which follows the Issues and Options stage.
We'll use the information received to inform a set of technical documents which will be part of our evidence base. This will include the:
- Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
- Employment Land Availability Assessment
- Brownfield Land Register
Uppingham town council propose to make allocations for housing and employment in the Uppingham neighbourhood plan review. We'll forward any relevant site submissions in and around Uppingham to the town council for their consideration.

We hosted a short webinar for anyone who would like to know more about the Call for Sites and how it fits into the wider Local Plan process.
