Introduction
Local land charges searches provide information we hold about a property or area of land.
They are used by solicitors, buyers and mortgage lenders to reveal important information which will show if there's any restrictions affecting the land or property before a property transaction is completed.
Searches normally consist of:
- A search of the Local Land Charges Register (using form LLC1)
- A set of additional questions devised by the Law Society on information relevant to the property but is not part of the Land Charges Register (using form Part 1 CON29 and Part 2 CON290 enquiries). This information is collected from different Council departments, including planning and building control, environmental health and highways
