If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 they will be eligible to start primary school for the first time in September 2019.
The closing date for submitting an application for a place at primary school for September 2019 has now passed. If you live in Rutland and have not submitted a primary school application for your child, please contact us as soon as possible. An application may still be submitted but as the application will be received after the closing date it will be treated as 'late' and processed after those applications that were submitted on time. If you wish to submit a late application you must submit it on the paper application form as the online application service for primary school admissions is now closed. You can download and print out a copy of the Primary School Application Form or if you would like us to post a copy of the application form to you then please let us know.
Each local authority is responsible for coordinating the primary school admissions process for children resident within their local authority area. This means that parents must submit an application to the Council where they live even if they wish to apply for a place at a school in another local authority area. For example, if you live in Rutland but would like to apply for a primary school place in another county, you must submit your application to us. If you do not live in Rutland but would like to apply for a place at a primary school in Rutland you must submit an application to the Council where you live.
To assist parents we have produced a primary school admissions brochure which explains the process of applying for a primary school place and which offers information about the primary schools in Rutland. It is important that you read the information contained in the brochure before submitting your application to ensure that you are aware of your preferred school's admission arrangements (policy), that you check if school transport will be available for your child and to ensure that all necessary information is included within your application.
The national offer day will be 16 April 2019. The national offer day ensures that offers of places are sent out on the same day to all parents throughout the country. It is important to note that if you submit your application online your offer will be sent by email on offer day and will be available to view on the admissions website on the morning of offer day. If you submit a paper application your offer will be sent by first class post on offer day. If you submitted a paper application your offer will be sent by first class post on offer day. As a result, parents who submit their application online are likely to receive their offer before those that submit a paper application.
Parents who are planning to send their child to a private or independent school should not use this application process but should instead contact the preferred school direct. If you do intend to apply for a place for your child at an independent school please let us know so that we can update your child's details accordingly.
