Adult learning and skills

Rutland Adult Learning and Skills Service (RALSS) provides local opportunities for adults to improve their skills and wellbeing through a broad range of courses, such as:

  • art courses in pottery, watercolour, textile design, photography, fused glass and more
  • language courses in Spanish, Italian and free English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
  • free basic skills courses in English and Maths
  • free independent living courses for adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • emergency first aid at work and paediatric first aid

Through its partnership with Stamford College, RALSS also offers a variety of work-based, classroom-based and online qualifications, such as:

  • functional skills and GCSE English and Maths
  • digital skills for work and essential digital skills
  • accounting and bookkeeping
  • early years and supporting teaching and learning 
  • online distance learning qualifications in business administration, customer service, mental health, care and more

RALSS also hosts Stamford College’s apprenticeship provision for Rutland and the surrounding areas.
