Details of the Sustainability Appraisal/Strategic Environmental Assessment - Baseline and Scoping Report

Sustainability Appraisal

The Sustainability Appraisal forms part of the evidence base to support the preparation of the Local Plan Review.

Sustainability appraisal is the process of appraising policies to ensure they reflect sustainable development objectives (i.e. social, environmental and economic factors).

All development plan documents and supplementary planning documents in the Local Plan are required to be subject to a sustainability appraisal.

The first stage in the process is to prepare a scoping report, which sets out the context and objectives for the appraisal and establishes its baseline and scope.

The report has been subject to consultation with the statutory Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) consultation bodies and a number of changes made as a result.
