We have public libraries in Oakham, Uppingham, Ryhall and Ketton, along with a Mobile Library that visits villages in Rutland fortnightly.

Library services

All our libraries are FREE to join and offer a range of fantastic services, including:     

  • Free Book Start Story times and Rhyme times for children under five
  • Free Book, audio book, eBook and large print loans
  • Free Children’s fiction and information books to borrow
  • Free Wi-Fi and internet access on our touch-screen computers
  • Free requests for items that are in stock, and no overdue charges!
  • Author events and regular hands-on activities
  • DVD and Music CD hire
  • New library catalogue with a dedicated catalogue just for children
  • Books on Prescription service
  • Homework Club with free printing
  • Photocopying, printing and fax facilities
  • Practise your driving test online for FREE with Theory Test Pro
  • Home Library Service – FREE home deliveries for those unable to visit the library
  • FREE Ancestry.com and FindMyPast access in all libraries 

Oakham Library

Oakham Library is being refurbished and will be closed the public while this work takes place. 

The Library will be closed until summer 2017, during which time a temporary library service is operating from Rutland County Museum.

The following library services are currently available at Rutland County Museum:

  • Public computers
  • Free internet and Wi-Fi access
  • All online services
  • Book and DVD loans (reduced stock)
  • Latest magazines and newspapers (no back issues)
  • Reading groups
  • Requests, renewals and enquiries
