Volunteering opportunities available at the Council

We have a variety of volunteering opportunities at Rutland County Council.

Volunteering with us could give you:

  • a chance to meet new people
  • an opportunity to learn more about books and the library service, history, heritage or supports
  • a sense of achievement by supporting people from different backgrounds, ages and abilities
  • experience to add to your CV, or towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award

You'll be given lots of support, including:

  • an induction to the service
  • support and guidance for your role
  • training relevant to your role
  • an opportunity to attend volunteer coffee mornings

Volunteering with our early help services

Aiming High

Our Aiming High team support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The team support families in many ways, including:

  • improving access to short breaks
  • providing support networks
  • improving access to childcare
  • working with other organisations to improve services

Children's Centre

Our children's centre work in partnership with other teams and organisations to make sure there's a full range of services on offer for children and families in Rutland.

They have a range of activities and services on offer for children aged 0 to 11, including:

  • drop-in sessions for families
  • support for new parents
  • stay and play sessions
  • baby play
  • Spud Club
  • Rhyme time workshops

Services for young people

Our youth service is not just about youth clubs - we offer a range of services and support, including:

  • mentoring
  • advocacy
  • parenting programmes (Living with Teens)
  • careers and education advice
  • health and wellbeing
  • short, informal education sessions in schools
  • support groups for young people

All volunteer posts working with children, vulnerable adults or confidential information are subject to safeguarding and GDPR (data protection) rules, and you may need a DBS check.

If there's a problem with clearances, any offered volunteer post may be withdrawn.
