Rutland County Museum

Rutland County Museum and Visitor Centre is the perfect introduction to England’s smallest county. The museum displays tell the story of the county, and are complemented by exhibits of archaeology, history and rural life.

Admission is FREE!

In addition to Our Collections the museum has a varied and interesting programme of Exhibitions and Events.    

The Visitor Information Area holds the latest information about other events and activities in the area and you can relax in our Award Winning Garden.

Oakham Library

While Oakham Library is being refurbished, it is currently operating from Rutland County Museum.

The following library services are currently available at Rutland County Museum:

  • Public computers
  • Free internet and Wi-Fi access
  • All online services
  • Book and DVD loans (reduced stock)
  • Latest magazines and newspapers (no back issues)
  • Reading groups
  • Requests, renewals and enquiries

The opening hours during this transition are:

  • Monday - Friday: 9.30am to 5pm
  • Saturday: 9am to 4pm
