Raising the Participation Age

What is RPA?

There is a legal requirement to stay in some form of education, training or learning opportunity until at least your 18th birthday.  It is proven that young people who stay in learning for longer have more opportunities and financial successes in life, than those who don’t remain in learning.

We want to make sure that you all achieve your full potential and excited about helping you prepare for working life.

What Are My Choices?

You will be able to choose from one of the following options:

  • Stay at school
  • Go to college
  • Find an apprenticeship or traineeship
  • Full-time work or volunteering (20 hours a week or more) combined with part-time recognised training and qualifications.

Where can I find out more?

  • Ask at school
  • Talk to parents
