Attachment of earnings

If you owe Council Tax and we have obtained a Liability Order from Leicester Magistrates Court, we can attach to your earnings.

This means we will ask your employer to take Council Tax from your salary and pay it directly to us. The amount we take from your pay can vary from 3% to 50% of your salary and will depend on how much you earn.

You can find detailed information about how we calculate the the deduction from your earnings by downloading our Attachment of Earnings guide.

Your employer must follow the attachment of earnings order by law and may be prosecuted and fined up to £1,000 if they don't. They are allowed to charge £1.00 per deduction to cover their own costs.

Your employer will continue to take payments until you have paid what you owe.
