When you make your appointment to register a death you will be asked if you would like to use the Tell Us Once service.
This service is free of charge and allows us to tell the following government departments that the death has happened:
If you wish to use the service, it would be useful to bring Information about any benefits and services the deceased may have been receiving. It would also be useful to bring the following documents for the deceased (where relevant):
If you are unable to locate any of this information/documents in time for your appointment, don’t worry, you will still be able to use the service later by telephone. The registrar will give you a unique reference number and a telephone number to call.
