Get a copy death certificate

We can only provide copy death certificates for deaths that occurred in Rutland.

You will need to give full details - including the deceased person's name, date and place of death.

You can email the details, your name and phone number to registrars@rutland.gov.uk - we will call you back to take payment and will post the certificate to your within 48 hours. You can also call us on 01572 758 370 - you may need to leave us a message, but we'll call you back as soon as we can.

Copy certificates cost £11 each, plus £2.50 postage and packing.

If the death occurred outside of Rutland, you'll need to contact the council in that area. If you don't know where the death occurred, you can apply to the General Register Office.

Civil registration began on 1 July 1837 - before this date, churches kept records of births, deaths and marriages.
