Apply for a copy of a birth certificate

We can only provide a copy of the birth certificate for a person who was born in Rutland

If the birth happened outside of Rutland you will need to contact the council in  that area.  If you don’t know the district, you can apply to the General Register Office.

You will need to provide full details of the individual’s names as well as the date and place of birth and the full names of the individual’s parents. 

Copy certificates cost £11 each.

We will take the details over the phone and will take payment by debit/credit card. 

We will usually post the certificate to you within 24 hours. 

Births Registered before 1837

Civil registration began on 1st July 1837.  Before this date, the church kept records for births, deaths & marriages.
