Local sportspeople from across Rutland have been recognised for their endeavours and achievements at the 2019 Active Rutland Community Sports Awards.

Now in its eighth year, the event champions local athletes, coaches, volunteers, sports clubs, participants and projects. Following a rigorous judging process, the winners and runners up were named at an award ceremony that took place on 13th November.

Active Rutland promotes sport, active recreation, health and physical activity for people of ages and abilities in Rutland and is full supported by Rutland County Council.

“The Active Rutland Community Sports Awards do an incredible job of recognising and rewarding the people involved in the local sporting community. This includes those who actively take part in a sport and those who work tremendously hard behind the scenes. This year's winners and runners up come from a huge range of different sports, which shows the amazing variety of activities that are available in our small county. We hope these awards start the ball rolling and inspire local people to get involved in sports in Rutland, whatever their age, ability or interests.”
Chris Traill, Strategic Director for Places at Rutland County Council
