From Thursday 2 July 2020, the UK government’s figures showing a breakdown of COVID-19 cases at local authority level are to include both the results of hospital testing (pillar 1 data) and testing carried out in the wider community (pillar 2 data).
Pillar 2 data has not previously been included in the government’s Upper Tier Authority (UTA) breakdown of COVID-19 cases.
Following the publication of pillar 2 data, UTAs across the country will show a marked increase in confirmed cases, as the results of community testing are shown together with the results of hospital testing for the first time.
In Rutland, as of Thursday 2 July:
- the number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in hospital is 36
- the number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the wider community is 52
- the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rutland is therefore 88
Combined pillar 1 and pillar 2 data will be published by the government, on its website.
