Rutland County Council is seeking to make passengers aware of temporary changes to local Centrebus services, in response to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Centrebus has notified the Council of significantly reduced passenger numbers following the publication of government guidance on social distancing.
As a result, from Monday 23 March 2020, the following Centrebus services will operate as normal, with a school holiday service during the week:
- 146 Oakham Town Service
- 747 Leicester to Uppingham
- RF2 Melton Mowbray to Oakham
The following services will operate to a reduced/amended timetable:
- 9 Stamford to Oakham will not operate
- 12 Uppingham to Stamford will operate a 2 hourly service
- RF1 Melton Mowbray to Corby via Oakham will operate to a 2 hourly service
- R47 Oakham to Peterborough will not operate
Passengers who use Service 12 and RF1 buses are advised to check the Centrebus website for updated timetable information.
In response to these enforced changes, Rutland County Council is introducing a free minibus service for essential journeys from Oakham to Stamford, to support Service 9 passengers.
Timetable information for this service can be found on our COVID-19 Changes the Services page.
“The government has issued clear guidance about social distancing and is asking people to make significant changes to daily life in order to reduce transmission of COVID-19. This includes specific advice to avoid non-essential use of public transport. As a result, Centrebus have seen a significant drop in passenger numbers and are having to temporarily alter their services. We are putting measures in place to provide a free replacement service from Oakham to Stamford. However, there is the possibility of further changes and passengers are advised to keep checking for updates.”
Councillor Lucy Stephenson, Cabinet Member for Transport
Further timetable changes are likely. Please check the Centrebus website regularly, for the most up-to-date information.
