Rutland County Council Cabinet are to consider backing a national campaign to appeal Government to develop a Rural Strategy.
The campaign, which is led by the Rural Services Network, calls on Government to take the lead in working with other interested organisations to produce a comprehensive, long-term and funded strategy Rural Strategy that ensures rural areas have:
- A thriving rural economy
- A digitally connected countryside
- A place everyone can get around
- Affordable places to live
- A fair deal on health and social care
- A place to learn and grow
- A financial settlement from Government that supports local action and includes fair funding for rural services
- A rural-proofed policy framework
The decision is to be made on 19 March 2019, when Rutland County Council Cabinet next meets.
