Council Leader Oliver Hemsley responds to the announcement about proposals for a new unitary council for Leicestershire.
“We are aware of the announcement that has been made by the Leader of Leicestershire County Council regarding proposals for a single unitary authority for Leicestershire. It is clear that these proposals are at a very early stage and we will follow them with interest as they develop. Rutland County Council is a unitary authority and celebrates 21 years of independence this year. We are therefore unaffected by any such proposals.” Councillor Oliver Hemsley, Leader of Rutland County Council
