The Rutland Armed Forces Discount Scheme has been extended and is now available to veterans of all ages.
The scheme, which was launched in 2017, offers discounts on goods and services to all armed forces personnel who are living in Rutland, as well as those moving to the area from elsewhere in the UK or overseas. The scheme is now also open to reservists, widows and veterans.
The scheme is so far supported by nearly 50 local businesses, including those from the services, food and leisure sectors. 54 Veterans from across the county have already signed up to receive their discount card.
“The armed forces provide an incredible service in often difficult and dangerous circumstances. Rutland is a small county with a large community of service personnel, and we pride ourselves on the support we provide them and their families. The Armed Forces Discount Scheme is a wonderful initiative with a growing number of fantastic local businesses signing up to support it. I’d encourage all service personnel in Rutland to apply for their Armed Forces Discount card, especially veterans now that they are eligible too.”

Rutland County Council recently received the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for its continued support of the armed forces community.
The Silver Award is given by the Ministry of Defence to employers that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant, which Rutland County Council signed in 2017.
