Temporary one-way for Oakham High Street

Date Published: 20 March 2017
Oakham High Street

From 27th March 2017, Western Power will be installing a one-way traffic system along the High Street and Market Place in Oakham to help with the swift completion of ongoing electricity supply works.

Traffic is currently controlled by temporary traffic lights.  The one-way system is requested by Rutland County Council as an opportunity to trial the effect of one of the options for public realm improvements, planned for 2018.

The one-way system will operate from the junction of Church Street to the roundabout at the junction of Mill Street/Catmose Street/Burley Road and will be in operation 24 hours a day, from 27th March until the 21st April, with traffic allowed to travel from Church Street towards the Market Place only.

Temporary parking will be installed to the north side of High Street.

The sign-posted diversion will be via Burley Road, Burley Park Way, Lands End Way and Barleythorpe Road.  All other local roads will be open as usual.

For more road closures, temporary works and local diversion routes, please see the national Roadworks website.
