Families can find out first-hand what is on offer for children and young people in Rutland as part of a special event in Oakham next month.
Jules House in Oakham will be opening its doors this summer and holding its first ever open day on Thursday 24th August, 11am to 3pm.
Members of the local community are invited to celebrate the work of Jules House, which is run by Rutland County Council and provides a wide range of services and activities for children and young people.
As well as finding out more about the type of support available to children and young people who live in the county, visitors will be able to enjoy a range of games and activities, including making tie-dye t-shirts, creating mosaic masterpieces and much more.
“Jules House benefits many children, young people and their families in Rutland, offering support and guidance, as well as providing a safe and enjoyable space for young people to come together with their friends."We are looking forward to celebrating the service with what will be its very first open day. This will be a great opportunity for the local community to come together and enjoy a day out with their families while learning more about the services that can help them.”
Dr Tim O’Neill, Director for People
Visitors will be able to browse a variety of information stands and find out more about the services and support offered by organisations like Healthwatch Rutland, Leicestershire Police, and Rutland County Council. This includes youth groups, Aiming High for children and young people with special education needs and disabilities, sexual health advice, emotional wellbeing and information on staying safe.
Staff from Rutland County Council’s Careers Advice Team will also be on hand to offer information about career paths and job opportunities. Young people receiving their GCSE results on the day are invited to come along if they would like advice about the options available to them.
