A Rutland company based at Oakham Enterprise Park are celebrating after being chosen as one of only 100 UK small businesses to represent this year's Small Business Saturday campaign.
Bat and Bottle Wine Merchants have been singled out for praise by Small Biz 100 as part of the build-up to Small Business Saturday 2016 and have been featured on the Small Biz 100 Calendar.
Bat and Bottle are specialist importers of Italian wine and were one of the first tenants to move to Oakham Enterprise Park after the site was bought and developed by Rutland County Council. The company has been in operation since 1994, selling wine, olive oil, grappas and spirits direct to the public and a small number of discerning restaurants, both local and nationwide.
“It’s fantastic to be named as one of the Small Biz 100 companies. I’m very proud to be an owner of a small business and couldn’t be happier to be settled right here in the heart of Rutland. We’re immensely passionate about what we do and have spent more than 20 years growing and developing what we think is a really unique and special business, so it’s great to get this kind of recognition. We hope our success draws more attention to Small Business Saturday and inspires people to support the local businesses and traders that are right on their doorstep.”

Small Business Saturday UK highlights small business success and encourages consumers to support small businesses in their communities. This year’s Small Business Saturday takes place on 3rd December 2016, when Bat and Bottle will be holding an Open Day and tasting event at their warehouse at Oakham Enterprise Park.
“Small businesses are hugely important to our local economy. When small businesses are successful it has a positive effect on the wider community, creating jobs and ensuring we have a diverse range of products and services available to consumers in Rutland. The Enterprise Park is home to a growing number of small businesses and their success is one of the driving forces behind our plans to increase capacity at the site. It’s therefore fitting that Bat and Bottle should be highlighted in the build-up to Small Business Saturday and we hope as many people as possible will use this year’s event to get behind our small business community.”
