If there is no text below, there aren't any current County Councillor vacancies. 

Oakham South Ward - Vacancy

A vacancy has occurred in the Oakham South Ward of Rutland County Council District Council.  The Notice of Vacancy was published on 17 May 2022 and an election was called.  Following the close of the nominations period for candidates this By-Election, namely 4.00pm on 17 June 2022, only one candidate stood validly nominated and was duly elected a Councillor for the Ward without contest.  The Statement of Persons Nominated and the Notice of Result of Uncontested Election is shown below.  This means that there will be no election taking place in the Oakham South Ward on 14 July 2022

Registering to vote

If the election is contested, to be able to vote in the 14 July 2022 Oakham South Ward by-election, you must register by midnight on 28 June 2022:

Postal and postal proxy voting

If the election is contested, to be able to vote in the 14 July 2022 Oakham South Ward by-election by postal vote, we must receive your postal vote application by 5pm on 29 June 2022.

If your proxy wishes to vote by post they must have been appointed by you, before they can apply to vote by post.  The proxy must must then register to vote by post before the 29 June deadline, so make sure you allow enough time for this - download application form for proxy to vote by post

If you or your proxy applied for a postal vote prior to 17 June 2022, the postal vote will be sent on or around 24 June 2022.

If we receive an application after 5pm on 16 June 2022, the postal vote will not be sent out until 4 July 2022.   

From 8 July 2022, contact us if your postal vote:

  • is lost
  • is damaged - you'll need to return this and bring proof of your identity when you collect the replacement
  • has been stolen
  • has not arrived
To cancel your postal vote, you must contact us by 5pm on 29 June 2022, or you will not be able to vote at your polling station.  The Royal Mail have requested we make you aware that there are priority Post Boxes having later collection times.  Originally introduced to help with the collection and onward delivery of Covid Test Kits, they are also available to Elections which are also classed as priority mail.  Many have collection times between 15:00 and 17:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.  You can find further details on the Royal Mail website at this link www.royalmail.com/priority-postboxes which will tell you where you can find a priority box in your area.

Proxy voting

If the election is contested, to be able to vote in the 14 July 2022 Oakham South Ward by-election by proxy vote, we must receive your application by 5pm on 6 July 2022.  

To change or cancel your proxy vote, you must do so by 5pm on 29 June 2022.
