Right to Data Portability

You have the right under the General Data Protection Regulations to ask for your personal information to be given back to you or another service provider of your choice in a commonly used format. This is called data portability.

However this only applies if we’re using your personal information with consent (not if we’re required to by law) and if decisions were made by a computer and not a human being.

It’s likely that data portability won’t apply to most of the services you receive from the Council.

Is there a fee for dealing with a data portability request?

No. We will comply with your rights free of charge

How long will it take to receive the information?

Information must be provided without delay and at the latest within one month of receipt.

We are able to extend the period of compliance by a further two months where requests are complex or numerous. If this is the case, we will inform you within one month of the receipt of the request and explain why the extension is necessary.

Who should I contact if I have any questions or need any reasonable adjustments?

You can email dataprotection@rutland.gov.uk

You can write to Information Governance, Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6HP

You can telephone 01572 722577.
