Update on Oakham Task and Finish Group

Rutland County Council’s Growth, Infrastructure and Resources Scrutiny Panel met this week to begin discussions around the formation of an Oakham Task and Finish Group.

The Scrutiny Panel meeting took place on Thursday 15 February to agree a framework for membership of the Oakham Task and Finish Group and propose a timetable.

The Task and Finish will initially consist of 10 members – six Rutland County Councillors and four co-opted members from outside the local authority. Five of the six councillors will be Oakham Ward Members. 

There will be no councillors on the Task and Finish Group from the council’s cabinet.

The Group will also have an independent Chair sourced through the Local Government Association.

The Oakham Task and Finish Group can choose to expand its membership further. The Group will hold a preliminary meeting in public to finalise membership and establish its aims and objectives before reporting back to Scrutiny (expected to be 22 March 2018).

The Oakham Task and Finish Group will then meet regularly in public to consider options for the future regeneration of Oakham. It is hoped a final report detailing the group’s findings can be produced by the end of 2018.

Anyone not appointed to the Group will have the opportunity to provide evidence and submissions, as well as being able to ask questions when the Group reports back to Scrutiny.
