Response to the Closure of Ketton Surgery

Kettion Surgery

A joint statement by Councillor Alan Walters, Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health, and Councillor Lucy Stephenson, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure, in response to the announcement that healthcare providers are to close Ketton Surgery.

“Healthcare providers have taken the difficult decision to close Ketton Branch Surgery. Local residents will no doubt be disappointed and our Ward Members have made their feelings clear.  This decision highlights the challenges facing healthcare providers in places like Rutland and the rural inequalities that must be addressed. The Council expects that Uppingham Surgery will make every effort to ensure patients who use Ketton are fully supported to access primary care elsewhere. Rutland County Council operates Ketton Library but is not responsible for the GP services based there. The closure of Ketton Surgery means there will be space available in the Library. Going forward, we will be looking to work with Parish Councillors and the local community to explore how best to use this space to continue supporting the library facility.”
