Response to New Zealand Attack

Date Published: 15 March 2019
Council Leader Oliver Hemsley

Council Leader Oliver Hemsley has offered his condolences to all those affected by the New Zealand terror attack.

"Like all of you, I am shocked and deeply saddened by the horrendous loss of life following the New Zealand terror attack. Everyone has the right to live in peace, without fear of harm or hatred. We stand together with all those who vehemently oppose such callous acts of violence. We will not allow thoughtless and selfish actions to create resentment and division within our communities. We must all stay vigilant and can expect to see an increased police presence as a precautionary response to this atrocity. My thoughts and the thoughts of everyone at Rutland County Council are with the friends and loved ones of all those affected by what is a truly senseless attack."
Oliver Hemsley, Leader of Rutland County Council
