Parents of children starting secondary school next year are being reminded to apply for a place at their preferred school, as soon as possible.
If your child is a Year 6 pupil, this is their last year at primary school and you can now apply for a secondary school place for September 2021. The national closing date for secondary school applications is 31 October 2020.
You can submit your child’s application by going to our Admissions page, where you will find full details and guidance to support you through the application process.
“Now is the time to submit an application if your child is starting secondary school next year. It’s not a ‘first come, first served’ process but it is important to submit your application before the national closing date. We strongly advise parents to make full use of the three preference options they are given when applying for a school place. It’s also important that you read the admissions policies of your preferred schools or colleges before submitting your child’s application.”
Councillor David Wilby, Cabinet Member for Education
Letters have been posted out to the parents and carers of all Rutland children who are currently in Year 6 at primary school and who will be moving on to secondary school next September.
For children who live in Rutland, an application must be submitted to Rutland County Council. Children who live in another local authority area must submit their application to the relevant council where they reside, even if they are applying for a place at a Rutland school.
