Mike Sandys, Rutland’s Director of Public Health:

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) are leading an investigation into several confirmed cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant in Rutland. We are working closely with UKHSA to take all appropriate actions and identify any close contacts. All those with confirmed cases are now self-isolating, in line with Government guidelines.

It’s extremely important that Rutland residents follow the latest COVID safety measures and take every possible precaution to reduce their risk of transmission. Keep washing your hands regularly, wear a faced covering in shops and on public transport, open windows if your meeting people indoors and keep taking rapid COVD tests on days when you're more likely to catch or spread COVID-19.For example, do a test before you:

Make sure you get your COVID vaccinations and take up the offer of a booster.

It’s also really important to stay at home if you're not feeling well. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, order a free PCR test online straight away: www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.

With community transmission of Omicron now believed to be in evidence in large parts of the country, we should expect more cases and take extra care.
