Oakham Library tree works

Date Published: 12 April 2017

Tree works are taking place outside Oakham Library from 12th to 13th April as part of an ongoing programme of essential works to the building.

Oakham Library is currently closed for a complete refurbishment that coincides with the construction of a new purpose-built extension for Visions Children’s Centre.

The tree works involve the removal of a Silver Maple growing close to the front of the library and are critical to ensure the longevity of the building.

Given its size and proximity to the library, the tree’s roots have the potential to undermine the foundations of the building, leading to serious structural issues in the future.

Contractors are carrying out this work under the supervision of our Forestry Officer and hope to cause minimal disruption to local residents.

Work to Oakham Library is due to be completed in late summer 2017, after which the temporary library service at Rutland County Museum will move back to the main library building.
