A notice of election for the office of Councillor has been issued for Oakham South East Ward following the receipt of two requests from local electors.

The seat was previously held by Councillor Tony Mathias. 

Nomination packs can now be obtained from Rutland County Council’s offices and must be returned by prospective candidates before 4pm on 9 February 2018. 

If more than one candidate is nominated the election will be contested and a poll will take place on 8 March 2018 between 7am and 10pm. If a single candidate is nominated for the vacant seat they will be elected unopposed.

The deadline for receiving new applications to register to vote for this election is midnight on 20 February 2018.

New applications to vote by post and any requests to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote must reach the Council’s Electoral Services Team by 5pm on 21 February in order to be valid for this election.    

New applications to vote by proxy except on the grounds of a medical emergency must be submitted before 5pm on 28 February 2018
