Where elections are contested (there are more candidates standing than there are seats available), voting is due to take place from 7.00am until 10.00pm on Thursday 2 May 2019.

Anyone who is not registered to vote but wants to take part in May’s local elections must register before 12 April 2019 and can do this at the government's Register to Vote website

The deadline for submitting new applications to vote by post and postal proxy, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes, is Monday 15 April 2019.

The deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxies) is Wednesday 24 April 2019.

Votes cast in the elections will be counted at Victoria Hall in Oakham on Friday 3 May (the day after Polling Day). Depending on the number of contested seats, the count for town and parish councils may continue into Saturday 4 May, at the Council Chamber.

Following final recommendations made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, there have been a number of changes to Ward boundaries in Rutland since the last full round of local government elections in May 2015. This has changed where some people will need to vote.

For more information about changes to Ward boundaries, please visit our Elections 2019 page.
