Local business Reservoir Finance have been celebrated as the very first company to move into Rutland’s new King Centre business park.

Previously the site of Barleythorpe College, Rutland County Council has successfully converted the former school building, including classrooms, science labs and cafeteria, into12,000sqft of fully-serviced commercial space intended to support new and emerging businesses.

Having been vacated in August 2017 and following a brief conversion, The King Centre has now opened its doors as one of the largest serviced commercial spaces in Rutland and welcomed Reservoir Finance as its very first tenant.

Originally established by Belinda and Stuart Milton in 2016, Reservoir Finance are an independent commercial finance brokerage that works with banks and specialist lenders to help businesses grow.

“The move to The King Centre has allowed us to grow our company and the location and facilities are superb for our day-to-day needs. We’re used to helping companies of all shapes and sizes, whether it’s providing a relatively small business loan or putting in place development funding worth several million pounds, so it’s exciting to be located somewhere where other businesses will be coming to grow and develop. Like many Rutland businesses, we’re based here in the county but are outward-looking and have connections across the country. This means we can offer significant expertise and a great level of service for clients, from start to finish.”

“It’s fitting that the first business to move into The King Centre should be one that works to help and support other companies so that they can grow and realise their full potential. This is exactly what the Council hoped to achieve when it made the decision to transform the college site into a new source of business accommodation. The King Centre is a great opportunity to support multiple small and medium-sized businesses – attracting new businesses into the area and helping established companies that have outgrown their current premises. We want to attract start-ups and innovative rural businesses to take up space at The King Centre and plan to reinvest income from the site into other projects and local services in Rutland.”
Councillor Oliver Hemsley, Leader of Rutland County Council
