Rutland County Council is inviting local residents to attend one of four free refresher driving theory courses held at the Council Chambers in Oakham.
These courses are for people who have already passed their theory however long ago and would like to update their knowledge as well as learn how to drive more safely and efficiently.
AA research revealed that more than 5 million Britons, one in every six license holders, say they have taken a break from driving long enough to lose skills and confidence.
“Rutland has winding country lanes, A and B roads and a large section of busy dual carriageway. All roads are different and display different signs that people may have forgotten about since their driving test. A lot of drivers lose their confidence once their instructor is no longer in the car, a lack of confidence can lead to mistakes or accidents. These courses refresh your memory on the rules of the road and help to keep all our road users safe.”
Councillor Tony Mathias, Portfolio Holder for Highways
The courses provide you with an opportunity to update your driving skills and knowledge, helping you deal with ever changing road conditions, and can reduce your risk of becoming involved in a road collision.
The courses have been arranged for the following dates:
- Thursday 23 March – 14:00-16:00
- Friday 21 April – 10:00-12:00
- Monday 18 September – 14:00-16:00
