Flags outside Rutland County Council’s offices in Oakham are being flown at half-mast today, as we join countless others across the country in honouring Captain Sir Tom Moore, who passed away yesterday.

As we celebrate the life and achievements of Sir Tom, we would also like to pay tribute to NHS Vaccination Site Manager Samantha Woodyatt, who died last week. Samantha worked tirelessly with Rutland County Council staff to operate the COVID-19 vaccination centre in Oakham and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Rutland County Council is also saddened to learn about the passing of Air Vice Marshall Nigel Sudborough, Chairman of the Oakham branch of the Royal British Legion. His extraordinary life of service and devotion to duty will not be forgotten.
