Election For Ryhall And Casterton Ward

A notice of election for the office of Rutland County Councillor was published on 7th August for Ryhall and Casterton Ward following the receipt of two requests from local electors.

The vacancy has arisen because Mr Christopher Parsons has not met the deadline to formally accept his position as a County Councillor following May’s Local Government Elections. 

Three people have now been nominated as candidates for the ward. 

The poll for the Ryhall and Casterton by-election will take place on 12th September 2019 between 7am and 10pm. The three candidates nominated are as follows: 

  • Richard Stephen Coleman, Conservative Party Candidate 
  • Steve Fay, The Green Party
  • Beverley Jane Helen Wrigley-Pheasant, Liberal Democrat 

The deadline for receiving new applications to register to vote for this election is midnight on Tuesday 27th August 2019. Applications can be made on the government's Register to Vote website.

New applications to vote by post and any requests to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote must reach the Council’s Electoral Services Team by 5.00pm on Wednesday 28th August 2019 in order to be valid for this election.

New applications to vote by proxy except on the grounds of a medical emergency must be submitted before 5.00pm on 4th September 2019.
